The Harbor Country Public Arts Initiative is a non-for-profit organization that works in partnership with eight southwest Michigan communities to plan, produce and exhibit works of art in public spaces. The Education Committee is working with area schools to have students involved in participating in exhibiting and recognizing art in the community. In January, River Valley High School and New Buffalo High School students created collaborative birdhouses for the Annual Birdhouse Auction. Later this Spring, New Buffalo High School art students have been invited to a sculpture tour in Harbor Country, which includes the sculpture "Symphony" by former New Buffalo High School graduate, David Skora.
